Essential SEO tips for busy entrepreneurs
During the years, I have tried to implement a useful SEO strategy into my website workflow and I am happy to share it with you guys. The following list is by no means a comprehensive SEO tip or an all in one solution for you every SEO project. However, this short list of tips would absolutely help you with your SEO project at hand. If you have an existing website or blog that you want to improve the rankings or optimize, you will find this article useful.
Google has recently released a new version of PANDA, and if you are not sure what this PANDA means, I would encourage you to read the Wikipedia description of this matter. In short, Google Panda is a change to Google's search results ranking algorithm that was first released in February 2011. The change aimed to lower the rank of "low-quality sites" or "thin sites",in particular "content farms", and return higher-quality sites near the top of the search. It is obvious that any new algorithm update will affect millions of websites overnight and therefore, every SEO strategist's responsibility is to figure out the requirements and the desired inputs that would rank their website higher and preferably on the first page of Google. The latest changes of the PANDA algorithm will heavily focus on the ORIGINAL CONTENT, "Answers to the questions", insights, sitemaps as well as the other smart activities that I would enlist below.
List of useful SEO Tips
I would like to emphasize that the following list does not come in any particular order.
Try to get as many inbound links as possible from organic websites, not affiliate or paid text links. Always remember that the websites that are linked to your domain through paid placement, are being used on hundreds of other websites and Google is smart enough to figure that out.
Check the traffic to your website and block bad links from suspicious and link scrapper's websites. Chances are that your website is being used to back link to another domain. I had clients with thousands of links to their website without knowing about it.
Create and submit a proper schema markup as well as sitemap
Limit the filler links such as YouTube and other video content. Although Google will prioritize the Youtube links in their search engine, they don't consider it as original content, and as you remember earlier, Original Content is an extremely important content for ranking.
Limit the content you take from other websites (for example copy and paste, and share as yours). Try to write down your own version of the story, and customize it as much as possible.
Make sure you have an easy navigation and sitemap. Make sure you have categories, tags, etc in place.
Avoid popups and add blockers that limit the Google bot activity
Review the Google guide on SEO best practices.
Create original headlines and make sure you do not have duplicate headlines. Try to be creative and different !
Posts should have at least four paragraph so it indicates an original content rather than excerpt
Update the website regularly. Once Google crawler does not notice any change on your website for more than 6 weeks, it will treat it as old and outdated site. Once you make a change, try to add value and add new pages, posts, articles, etc.
Try to take or create new photos for your content. Downloading and using the same picture does not help your SEO strategy that much.
Learn Google Webmasters (Now Google Console). It is your friend.
Don't overload the site with adds from other websites such as Amazon
Try to utilize the standard structure of the web by using the H1, H2, and H3 tags in your website. Don't bold a normal text to make it look like it is bigger.
If you invite someone to write an article, post or blog, make sure the same article will not be posted somewhere else. Always, utilize original content as much as possible.
Use social media as much as possible. Make sure that the blogs, and posts are being shared on the right social media. For example, sharing short and informative posts on Twitter results in a better engagement rather than long and lengthy blogs and articles.
Make sure to answer comments on the blog and article posts on your website.
Like it or not Google is the king of the search engines. Try to spend some small amount on Google ads to promote your best content.
Make sure your website has SSL certificate installed. You can get free SSL certificate. You can also purchase from different providers like Godaddy for the sake of convenience.
Try to write quality content that has at least 900-1100 words in it. Do not write short posts and articles because they are not treated as original content.
Make sure your website is Mobile ready. In August 2017, traffic on Mobiles and tablets surpassed the desktop traffic. Therefore, Google will pay extra attention on the quality of your website on tablets and phones.
As you might have already know. Google will never go into detail on how they would rank websites on the Internet. Instead, they have to share some tips to make sure that the community is on the right path and they are following the rules to support their business plan. It is interesting to know that about %98 of the Google income, comes from Ad revenue and Google AdWords in particular. I hope you have enjoyed this post and if you liked it please share it with others so they can benefit from it as well.
